Uniform
Our school uniform has changed. From September 2011, Years 7 to 11 will be expected to wear the new school uniform, details of which are given below.
As of September 2011 The Lakes School uniform will be available from our stockist Identity.
1)Online - oneidentity.co.uk Customers will be given their own secure account and can pay by debit or credit card. Orders to us by Friday will be delivered to school free of charge (dependent on stocking levels).
2) In store - Identity stock The Lakes School uniform at its store in Barrow-in-Furness. You will get your own personal assistant to help you.
3) Order forms from the school office. Paid by cheques made payable to, “H&D Groundwater”. Orders to us by Friday will be delivered to school free of charge (dependent on stocking levels).
4) School Sale Day - Usually around July, date to be confirmed.

A copy of the school’s uniform list is given below. We ask parents to support us in maintaining high standards of appearance by ensuring that all students in Year 7 - 11 are dressed in the School’s uniform.
As we say in our prospectus, “It is felt that the wearing of items of school uniform helps pupils to take a pride in themselves and in their school, and at the same time, provides an inexpensive and suitable way of dressing for school.”
- A V-necked black sweater incorporating the school crest
- Black trousers (not denim or cotton) or
- A knee-length black skirt (not denim or cotton) of an approved style
- White shirt or blouse (tucked into trousers or skirt) with a tidy collar
- Vests or other underwear worn under a shirt or blouse should be plain white with no printed patterns or insignia
- An approved school tie, knotted close to the collar, which must be fastened
- Plain dark grey, black or navy socks. Plain black tights or black socks may be worn with a skirt
- Plain, clean, black shoes (not trainers or hybrids), with no sports logos
- Plain black (non-fashion) belts only are permitted
- Coats, if worn, must be suitable for the school environment, with no extremes of fashion or large logos or insignia
- Scarves, hats or gloves, if worn, must be suitable for the school environment, with no extremes of fashion
- Students are expected to have a school bag large enough to carry the books and equipment necessary for school. Fashion handbags are not suitable.
Students must not wear a scarf, coat, hat or gloves in class, in the dining hall or in assemblies.
Students should not wear jewellery (except for a wrist watch), unless they have permission to do so on religious grounds. Students with ear piercings will be instructed to remove them.
Correct school uniform must be worn when travelling to and from school.
Hair must be tidy and of a natural shade; no extremes of fashion. Long hair must be tied back when instructed to do so for safety reasons.
Make up is not allowed in Key Stage 3. Minimal make up is allowed in Key Stage 4, but must be removed if instructed to do so.

Tracksuit bottoms (black)
Tracksuit top (black), school sweatshirt or school hoodie
It is strongly recommended that all students wear mouth guards (rugby and hockey) and shin guards (football and hockey).
Uniform trousers are not suitable for PE and games lessons.
