Homework Timetables
Now that the school timetable for this year has operated for a period of time, we are able to confirm the homework arrangements for this year in the tables below.
Most subjects set homework once a week though some set more frequently. Homework may take a variety of forms. They may be reading homework, written homework or research-based homework. In Years 7 to 9 the tasks set should last about 30 minutes and in upper school about an hour. Homework has been assigned to days when students have that subject. Though this makes obvious sense it means that some nights may be busier than others. In most cases, however, homework is not required in the next day therefore it can actually be attempted on the less busy nights. Staff setting homework will specify when it is required by. Some subjects in Years 7 and 8 will be setting project-style homework to be completed over a longer timescale for instance a half-term. In these cases this will be made clear in student’s planners.
It may be necessary to set extra homework to those stipulated in the timetable particularly in the upper school and near exam times, for instance.
If you have any concerns about the amount of homework your child is receiving or any questions about the timetable please don’t hesitate to contact the teacher concerned if this relates to a particular subject or their form tutor or director of progress for more general questions. Our homework policy is included in the Key Stage 3 and 4 handbooks which you should have received already.
