Careers
Careers Education and guidance is available to all students, especially from Year 9. Careers Education is delivered through group work sessions with the careers adviser in Years 9 and 10, the PHSE programme in Years 9, 10 and 11, key events like the Work Shadowing Day in Year 9, the Kudos sessions in Year 10 (a database which suggests occupations based on factors such as interests, ability, health, etc) and the Careers convention in Year 11.
The Careers Library is open to all students during break and lunchtime and there is a variety of resources available such as as computer programmes as well as written text.
The Careers Co-ordinator oversees Careers Education and Guidance within the school and liaises with outside agencies. The Co-ordinator organises talks to students from employers and higher or further education providers, visits to the Careers Convention, the organisation of careers interviews, the day release scheme and work experience scheme for all of Year 10 in June or July.
The Connexions service provides detailed advice to students via their interview and the adviser attends parents evening from Year 9 upwards to help with any queries.
